I think Simon is a Princess Bride fan.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
End of Line
Funnily enough, it means exactly what Simon thinks it means (not that I’ve missed the reference). He can’t conceive that Kyri actually undid his world transformation. Let’s not forget that he wasn’t just changing it; he was overwriting it. The moment Kari sprung into being, Simon wouldn’t be able to imagine how she would be able to revert to something she technically never had been anymore.
Of course it’s conceivable for Kari, somehow, but she clearly was ahead of even most accomplished physicists, seeing as she understood how the machine operated at a glance.
Oh PERFECT! Nicely done, wrapping it up with a Princess Bride reference.
Now if only Jon would start saying “you killed my father, now I kill you!”
“You killed my father. Prepare to die”
Hah! Disrupted his concentration and made him drop the spell! Classic! It will be interesting to discover what the interrupted upgrade has done to their world.
It’s great to see lovely medieval Cole back again, though I’m kind of going to miss punk Cole.
Interrupted upgrade? Hmmm….
This page brings up a good question, now that I’m re-reading it when NOT distracted by twitch.tv on the other monitor – did Simon actually have the foresight this time to make a backup?
Thunderhead’s counterpart was obviously messing with the controls on the previous page, so I’m assuming that she managed to do a limited reversion despite having no knowledge of their “real” selves. Hence – where did the knowledge of those versions of themselves come from?
You mean how did Kari know about Kyri? My guess is she knew that reality was being twisted, and so she decided to untwist it.
“You mean how did Kari know about Kyri?”
Probably this or this.
…methinks I’ve been spending too much time on tvtropes.
They did interact a bit:
Ten years ago – when Jon almost succeeded – they merged shortly.
Just last night, in Kyris dreams.
And of course, just reversing the polarity would totally help here!
I swear, I’m going to throw this at the next person to so much as think the phrase “reverse the polarity.”
Yep, Kyri knew about her physicist half who talked to her. It’s in some issue i am too lazy to search. It’s a little bit before they reach the spire and after Kyri has seen trough the door.
Would be cool to see deer Kyri retaining her memories of a physicist and tuning the wishing machine herself. Being a physicist is cool. I can tell, i am a half one. And yeah being a historian must be cool too. 🙂
Ah, it wasn’t just a simply reversion though! They are all substantially altered from just prior to turning into Simon’s “new” reality. For one thing, Jon’s no longer dead. I wonder if Colindra & Jon’s clothing are any indication of how far back Kari/Kyri (they are flip-sides of reality so it doesn’t make sense to call them separate people) reverted to.
It isn’t clear if Jon was actually dead before. He may have been simply unconscious from shock and blood loss but not yet “all dead”. For all we know this might work like on Code Lyoko, where if someone dies a return to the past won’t bring them back.
Hmm, I think I foresee some bugs in the system, what with that partial update!
Cole looks so happy & Jon looks so confused as to what just happened.
I just noticed all the purple lightning. That’s Banestone energy, isn’t it? Seems Kari did more than just chuck something at Simon’s head.
Wait, that’s Kyri’s bracelet! It seems Kari managed to effect at least a partial reversion before Kyri broke Simon’s concentration. Still, there is much to be learned about what exactly just did happen in the last few seconds.
I hope ben comes back…. i’m glad the punk cole is gone. If this had to happen i would like a punk better than a fat lady. PLEASE let ben come back. They were so cute together.
Hrn. A rollback on a partial upgrade… As an IT guy I can guarantee that’s going to cause some issues lateron…
… I hope she was smart enough to leave Primrose in the upgraded state 🙂
That would depend entirely on how modular (or equivalent) said system is (+/- Artistic License), but in general, yes, a partial rollback (or incomplete upgrade) has an annoying tendency to break all the things.
Hence why there are people and businesses STILL inexplicably running Windows XP boxes despite obvious security issues.
