Let’s hope Herrik is waiting there for the Endstone to be rocked.
Otherwise he might break his hand trying to hit Simon while her rocks the Banestone.

Heh, the Charmstone. I figured G.A.T.E.S. wouldn’t be that gullible.

Nice to see GATES being a stereotypical villain, methinks he watched one too many movies as a kid and got some bad advice from them. Though I’m sure his conniving, on-par-with-the-higest-of-drow side will surface once he realizes that his enemies actually pose a threat to him.

    @Insectoid
Well, GATES has already proven that despite all his charisma, he has an incredibly poor concept of tactics and of Rules 6, 11, 24, 40, 43 (granted, charmstone), 61, 89 (this one especially), and probably also #72 (http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html). He usually has lackeys to do the tactical stuff for him, so he never would have had reason to learn it. He also currently considers his enemies to be beneath him, and as such has not yet realized how much of a threat they actually pose to him. That being said, he is certainly intelligent enough to withdraw and rethink his plan once he gets over his initial excitement of being freed from the Banestone – assuming that he survives this, that is.

On that thought, his charisma is probably only the result of years of practice during his 5k year imprisonment – how many past Banestone rockers must there have been in that time? Methinks at least a few dozen; factoring in time for society to rebuild, forming his plan, and the centuries of cumulative time that the Banestone was hidden away from the world. Plus, how do you think he got the millions of dollars of funding for SPIRE in the first place?

Satherian – Yes. You were on the right track. 🙂

Allen – It’s hard rooting for the villain. 😉

Christopher – You’re right. This could go one of two ways . . . or could it? 😉

R.J.Thor – Glad you’re enjoying the story. Things are only just starting to ratchet-up. Much more is to come so stay very tuned. . .

Insectoid – Yes. It took two major distractions but Kyri and Herrik managed to surprise GATES. We’ll see how it plays out. 🙂

Nemoricus – A rusty tool can sometimes get the job done. 🙂

Hmm, i already feel pain for Herrick. None of them know the Endstone power is negated, they assume Simon will automatically rock it upon touching it but he won’t. And that useless strike will also wake Simon up and force him to stop time and retreat.

That could very well happen. We’ll see how it plays out, DK. 🙂

Why has no one Rocked the Kazbah? It has its own theme song and every thing! All these plots and heavy thinking mean next to nothing when compared to the true power of the Sharif, who Don’t Like It!
Plus, you know, he has no stones, which in retrospect seems like a massive over-site in a song about “Rockin’ it”

I see about four ways this plays out:

    1. Our Heroes get the stone immediately, and GATES is spanked, or otherwise punished.

    2. Our Heroes fail and GATES proceeds to take it out of their hides.

    3. Herrick succeeds, but only in knocking the Endstone away, and a game of I Spy commences, with GATES trying to find the Endstone and pummeling any and everyone at the same time, and either succeeding or failing at doing both.

    4. Herrick fails, but GATES STILL drops the ENDSTONE. Okay, maybe that’s the same as three, so I’ll give you

    5. Herrick fails, but GATES, being at core something of a screw-up when it really counts, has also failed to properly secure the Endstone, touches it, and Hijinks Ensue.

Interesting scenarios you have laid out there, Raoullefere. 🙂 I do know for a fact (’cause I’m the writer, heh heh) that Herrik intends to kill GATES. We shall see how it plays out. 🙂

I confirm the killing intent. Herrick is putting all his focus into his coming strike, you can tell from the stance and the palm signs. Does not mean Simon will be out of Banestone invulnerability because rocking the Endstone, though.

My pronostic : the fact Simon has the Endstone in hand without rocking it throws both Kyri and Herrick out of balance (in Herrick’s case, wounds his hand too) long enough for Simon to break free from the Charmstone. And he may be goofing a little bit, he’s still too clever, i think, to fall twice into the same trick. So that’s when he’ll make his time-traveling escape. 🙂

I wasn’t sure if GATES could be killed, although, given the U.S.’s current stance on punishment, it could be said to be one of the options I mentioned.

            Face-saving Raoul

Good point about the commentary on the current US stance on punishment. 🙂 I was just going off what has been established about the characters personalities.

Kyri would definitely not try to kill GATES. She’s a gentle soul pushed into the role of warrior. But Herrik would kill. We already know he’s willing to tear off body parts in battle. He’s literally a snake. Kyri might disapprove, but she really can’t tell Herrik what to do.

But we’ll see how this plays out in a few hours. Always good to hear from you, Raoul. 🙂
