Looks like whoever’s using the Angelstone does not know how to use it in a fight. If the rock sword broke on the Force Shield, it’s obvious the other parts of the statue will too if used to attack… <_<
My guess is that the Angelstone is currently functioning on its own, without a master. It’s like it’s set to autopilot and it just automatically attacks anyone who approaches in any way that it can for as long as necessary/possible. If that’s the case all he has to do is hold out until the Guardian destroys itself on his shield, then claim the stone. The one thing that I don’t get is what happened to it’s wing and head? Why did they break? It didn’t attack with them yet.
The trauma of smashing itself against the force-filed is what is causing the guardian to disintegrate. It might not be that clear, but that’s what I was going for. 🙂
Well that’s really not what i figured out. To me, the guardian keeps attacking until it cannot move, destroying itself on the force field again and again. As for the head and wing, once the guardian had no more balance, it could simply smash itself on the ground and crack.
That’s how i understood it anyway, apparently i was wrong. xD
Maybe you should have added an light effect to outline the very magical fabric of the guardian was shattered, and/or some sort of painful yell.
I think what would have made it more obvious would be to have it shatter more or less on the same position of the last strike, instead of a completely different one.
It occurs to me that perhaps destroying the statue (or letting it break itself to bits on the Forcestone shield) might not such a good idea when you’re standing on a narrow, winding path over a bottomless abyss…
I think it’s too soon to speculate. John probably knows more about what’s happening than any of us, and that will probably be clear in the upcoming pages. He could have made a mistake… or not.

The disintegration from smashing against the force-field was clear to me. It seemed natural for a rock statue to do that after enough trauma.

Very true. 🙂 But I think Jon’s force-field might be protecting him.
I’d be a lot more worried about the Angelstone falling in than Jon falling in…
