Mmm, I dunno. Aside from the humor value of the little fashionista, it’s not implausible for it to be a coping mechanism. The poor kid *has* been ripped away from everything she ever knew, after all. She doesn’t have a toy to cling to, so she clings to her fashion-consciousness. It’s about the only thing she has left, to self-identify with, poor thing.
A little, but much less annoying than if she only commented on fashion for clothes she’s wearing. This way it makes her less vain and more just fashion-minded.
I think that Cole’s obsession with fashion is just the wonderfully twisted mind of Tony at work 🙂
Depicting just a fraction of her overall behavior,Tony reveals us a lot more than the eye sees.
Think…as a family, they used to have to tolerate the ignorance and the malice of the people around them.
As mother and daughter, they had to live on the run, while been chased by an insane husband and father.
Yet,Kyri did such a good job protecting her, that even know,Cole only cares about fashion and when Jon appears in this strange outfit, with these burning red eyes, all she says is “Hey-it’s Daddy!”.
That’s not a fashion victim Cole-this is an innocent Cole that until up to this very moment, feels safe, protected and doesn’t have a clue about what is going on…
We are about to witness the first blow to Colindra’s sanity…the world no longer will be her playground and monsters will be hiding in the shadows forever after.
Cole’s fascination with fashion is not annoying….it’s tragic.
Amazing job Tony!
As Just a reader points out, Cole has no idea what is going on. Reality will eventually intrude unfortunately. Without spoiling anything, let’s just say that this scene is really about Colindra.
As for her being annoying… could be. 🙂 The character is who she is. She’s designed as Kyri’s foil. Kyri is very serious and Cole is not. I originally drew the page without the little “fashion-comment-panel,” but it was too melodramatic, IMHO. The “little-panel” is a device I’ve stumbled upon recently to add character development and reaction.
I struggled in the early Endstone pages with how to have characters talk and react and keep pages to a minimum. Unfortunately I threw out character moments to keep pacing and panels flowing. Hopefully the mini-panel helps in that department. This entire project has been such a great learning experience. 🙂
Is anyone else finding young Cole increasingly annoying?

She is such a little fashion diva! It will be interesting to see how she reacts when mummy and daddy start fighting.
Dear oh deer…
Agreed; it looks like young Colindra has been fauned over too much …
😉
Such a one-track mind…
Mauve scarf? I know little of fashion, but that seems to be the last thing you want to add to that outfit.

Um, is it just me, or is anybody else weirded out a little extra by the inexplicable deer skull?
If all “higher animals” are humanoid… then where did that come from?
