“kill the heroes never works” Tell that to Obiwan Kenobi, or Starks in game of thrones… occasionally one of the senior hero dies leaving the child to seek revenge.
That actually tends to depend on the author/work in question. While generally the case, it is by no means a given for the hero(s) to survive, nor even for the “Bid Bag” to be defeated.
Although it seems to be the case here, where Simon is trying to wield knowledge against experience. That generally tends to go pear-shaped pretty quickly.
The ‘helm’ is still operational? Is Simon getting infected with Stonerverse speech patterns? Doesn’t bode well for him if that’s true, since it might mean Kyri’s made him over in *her* image.
Of course, it could just be a typo. I’d love to know, either way.
Meh, the word “helm” can easily be used to refer to any kind of control interface, not just that of a vessel.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/helm?s=t The second and third listed definitions certainly support this, although to be fair it is more common in modern works to use words such as “console” or “interface.”
Yes, but my dictionary, at least, asserts using ‘helm’ instead of ‘helmet’ is ‘archaic,’ which is why it was/is used in D&D, much as very few people talk about their ‘steed’ anymore unless they’re being purposefully archaic themselves. Simon would, I should think, be more likely to say either ‘helmet’ or, more likely still, either ‘headpiece’ or ‘controller.’
It could really be, though, that he’s also being re-written and, just as Jon, under Simon’s influence, started using words that didn’t make sense in Stonerverse, Simon’s vocabulary is now shifting under Kyri’s influence.
I suppose I’m trying to say this isn’t just me being a grammar jedi; I really did think it might be significant.
Tony does not seem the sort to stoop to the level of the overused World-Healing Wave of lazy writing-ness, so probably.
Besides, the SPIRE caused both the apocalypse and the subsequent existence of stonecraft. If it magically reverted only recent changes, I’d be throwing the Refrigerator at someone.
Minor typo in the third panel, the “e” in Endstone isn’t italic with the rest.
Other than that, the dire warnings to evacuate do not sound very good. Especially given the Banestone is still anchored to the console.

I don’t think he’s figured out trying to kill the heroes never works

Interesting. I used the word “helm” as a substitute for helmet. Like in D&D you can have a “Helm of Telepathy” or something like that.
I had no idea it also meant a “place of control” but that works.
Wow, I somehow missed that one. Whoops. Good thing none of my players read your comic, or I would never hear the end of this one.

it wasn’t mentioned in the comic but Simon was into Dungeons and Dragons back in the day. He was always the Dungeon Master.
So much for “benevolent” dictatorship…
So if the spire explodes and destroys itself for good, does that mean the universe will never revert to its original state?

This is the problem most definitely.
