Is it my idea or she is a total loony?
The bit from Man of La Mancha comes to mind:
“I can hear the cuckoo singing in the cuckoo berry tree.
If he thinks that that’s a helmet, I suggest that you agree.
But he’ll find its not a helmet and will not make him bold and brave.
Well, at least he’ll find it useful if he ever needs a shave.”
Ah but there is method to Ophelia’s madness. 🙂
That’s the thing to fear
The best super villains are those who think they are doing something good. Kodos the Executioner in the Original Star Trek was convinced that killing 4,000 of the population was justified in order to save the rest of the colony from starving to death. The supply ships from Earth arrive early and Kodos is seen as an evil man, but Anton Karidian (the identity Kodos adopted after a faked death) argued Kodos would be a hero if the supply ships had not arrived.
There are a lot of evil things done by people who believe they are doing good.
“Conscience of the King” !!!! Great stuff! I love early Star Trek. 🙂
And I try to make my antagonists multi-dimensional. Nothing is worse than a mustache twirling villain with no motivation other than being evil for the sake of evil. This is why I’m not liking Game of Thrones as much as before. Cercei Lanister is an excellent, well rounded villain. The Night King not so much…. because he’s just evil and nothing more.
I agree, a good back story for a villain is much better; however, I do like the line in the new Amazon Prime show, “The Tick,” in which The Terror says, “You don’t kill people because they call you names. You kill them because it is fun!” Of course, the show is a take off of all of those comics that only have the Snidely Whiplash trope. 🙂
I’m starting to see why she was sealed up… Ophelia, like her namesake, went cuckoo.
It’s quite interesting to compare the Gravestone and the Livingstone: the former gives the body true consciousness, but can work on only one creature at a time and cannot restore the natural decay of a corpse; the Livingstone, however, can create hordes of undead, albeit mindless ones, and can restore a body to how it looked like before death, and its rocker can control the undead thus created, something that cannot happen with the Gravestone, as its target is also its rocker.
I’m starting to have the doubt that the two might be somewhat connected: the rocker of both Livingstone and Gravestone could achieve a form of immortality (granted, they could be still destroyed), and cheat death forever.
Great observations. 🙂 I’d say you are right on track with your last comment. Ophelia’s goal is to achieve immortality for her long deceased daughter.
EVERYTHING? Will we witness reanimated Dinosaur skeletons? ;3
YAY!!!!!!!
Stay tuned…. 😉
I love this character. There may be some fan art in your future…
Thanks! And fan art would be awesome! 🙂
