Theorem: Girls are evil.
Proof:
1) We know that girls cost time and money. I.e., Girls = time * money
2) As any businessman knows, time is money. I.e., time = money.
3) Therefore, girls = time * money = money * money = money^2.
4) Since money is the root of evil: money = sqrt(evil)
5) Therefore, money^2 = (sqrt(evil))^2 = evil.
6) Therefore, girls = evil. QED.
But yes, this does address Sam’s comment in TFotR:
Bilbo: “Oh, that won’t do! Books ought to have good endings. How would this do: and they all settled down and lived together happily ever after?”
Frodo: “It will do well, if it ever came to that.”
Sam: “Ah! And where will they live? That’s what I often wonder.”
Yes! Bolo and Gog were snake-oil hucksters. Originally, I had Bolo saying Jon’s lines but it didn’t work. A main character needs to be in charge and Jon’s role in the group is sort of an “ideas man.”
Plus, I’ve sorta’ pushed Gog and Bolo back in the past two issues. One, there are too many characters and I need to spend valuable time developing some of the major characters. And two, honestly I wanted to limit the number of characters I had to draw in the final climax scene. The more characters the more work. It seemed to go alright without them until this last scene.
Well, here goes Jon conjuring up a business idea. His combined knowledge of both worlds may come in handy, as it has been proven before when wielding stones in creative ways, using a modern understanding of physics.
Now that I think of it, his knowledge of both worlds may come in extra handy. There’s still an ex-god with that same knowledge on the loose (aside from who knows what might remain of the reboot). Even if said ex-god doesn’t wield much raw power nor has any tech, even bringing modern cultural constructs to a more primitive society can have dangerous effects. And Jon would also know how to handle that… I hope.
This is a great point. 🙂 One thing: If you or I were transported to an earlier time, we would have technical ideas but it would be difficult to implement them. For example, I know what a light bulb is, but there is no way I could ever build one. This is something I hope to explore with Jon.
True about the technical ideas. But I was thinking more about the cultural/psychological ones. Not in the saturday movie-esque way of “now I go to the middle ages and impress everyone with my disco moves” but more on the lines of “now I combine the knowledge of usury and manipulation of the masses of my original universe with my knowledge of the political system of the current universe to forge myself a place of power”, although I must admit I kinda doubt the Gates guy actually has that that much detailed knowledge outside his very technical areas of expertise.
what is this absurd claim for a need of money?!? DX
It is the root of all evil. Or so I’ve read…
as long as they dont love the money, they’ll be free of its roots 😛

Is that wolf wet or dry, Thunderhead? Makes a difference, here, anyway.

Great quote. 🙂 I’ve often wondered that myself. Hence this page. 🙂
I think Jons others side just triggered, with a good idea for a business.
Hmm, what could also those abilities be used for I wonder?
Jon’s abilities and unique knowledge will definitely be tested in the future. 🙂
Didn’t Bolo and Gog have a Snake Oil-like business? What happened to that?
In any case, I am curios about Jon’s idea. I agree with Christopher that this probably is the CFO of Goldman Sachs kicking in.

A wondering freakshow or a circus?
Interesting idea. 🙂 We’ll see how it plays out.
Interesting that Colindra claimed being able to DO facials. Rather than being able to GIVE them…
I think she can both “do” and “give” facials. Wait… did I just say that?

Vandric seems to either see something or have an idea. But honestly that expression is too cute.
He has an idea, actually. Glad you like it. 🙂
(Gonna regret saying this later, but…)
Now seems like a strange time for an orgy, don’t you think?
