Don’t forget to vote for Endstone at Top Web Comics. Β And thanks to everyone who has voted so far. π
And so an angel comes to their rescue…
Nice metaphor.
Jon and Kyri teaming up for this rescue, that will help rehabilitating Jon in the eyes of the others…
And I love the challenging stare Jon throws at Simon before flying in. π
Kinda like “I get you for deceiving me about how the world really is”.
bad thing is, they forgot the Endstone and Banestone up there. The two pieces you need to use the S.P.I.R.E.
I can see why Kyri would leave the endstone for now, but it looks like Jon grabbed the Banestone. His stone aura comes from the chest, is red and filling the eyes like his usual Banestone aura.
Banestone Aura is purple (see two pages ago).
Red Aura is the angle stone I think. Wich he also wears as necklage (for easier combination of stoner powers, I think).
Inconsistency, maybe, but we have had a topic regarding the Banestone aura changing color depending on the stoner. It was originally red for Jon, and indeed purple for Cole. Not sure about Drakhyl.
In any case, we’ve seen Jon rock the Angelstone before, it has no eye aura. Of all his current stones, only the Banestone has an eye aura. That’s why, i think, Jon actually grabbed the Banestone along the way.
I’ve got to claim responsibility for the misunderstanding. When I first started coloring the comic, I assigned a color for each stoner. You can see that in the backgrounds on the “Character Mug” sheets on the front page. Jon’s energy was going to be red no matter what stone he used. It became apparent fairly soon that it worked better for each stone to have a color, so I abandoned the stoner/color match. My apologies for not having fixed that in Issue 6 and 7 yet (that needs to change and Jon needs to be a red dragon in Issue 7 but I digress π )
As for whether Jon picked up the Banestone, that’s all I’ll say. The answer will be in the next post.
Again, my bad. ;(
Wow, the story’s taken a very interesting turn, what with Simon now trapped in this fantasy world as well. What abilities will he have? That’s bound to have interesting consequences.
Lurker, I don’t think Simon is trapped in a fantasy world, this is now the real world after Simon changed the previous one into this one.
Just a theory, we’ll see in time.
Lurker – Thanks! I’m glad you’re still enjoying the comic:)
HF – Very true, but it’s no theory. I want to make it clear that Kyri’s world, for better or worse, is the real one. Simon wants to change it into his personal fantasy of a “modern” world. Will he succeed? Stay tuned. π
Like Tony said. Another way to put it is that Simon once caused a catastrophic event that reboot the real world from the modern-ruled (like he likes it) to stone-ruled. And he wants to reboot it again into a modern-ruled.
Thinking about it, a possible long term future would be learning from Simon’s mistake and his knowledge to modernize the world in a constructive way instead of Simon’s destructive way. That would take many lifetimes of course, but it also would bring the Montaine family & friends into the legends for more than just being ultimate opponents of Simon’s Banestone. They would be teachers for the world, each having their own specialty and perspective. Of course it’s just a vague long term theory for now… π
Oh yes! This is one of the directions the story could take after this arc is complete. The characters, especially Jon, might want to try and improve life by bringing modern elements to the world. But is modern life really an improvement? Sure, toilets and electric lights are helpful, but modern life is fraught with physical and mental ills so it’s not a cut and dry question. The one thing that needs to be addressed is the treatment of “animals” in this world and that’s something I’d like to explore if this series continues.
The way I see it, “Progress” is always an improvement, may it come from knowledge and science, every day health, and many more. However, all improvements come with their flaws, and the possibility for some people to take advantage of those flaws. Additionally, there is the constant problematic question : are people ready to accept the improvement ?
I suppose by definition all progress is improvement, but there are wildly divergent views on what exactly constitutes “progress” and “improvement”. What some consider progress others might consider a down-hill slide. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that definitions of words are going to mean the same thing to everybody, even when you can agree on those definitions.
My thoughts are similar. I am very wary of “progress” at times. Although I see the benefits of toilets, computers, and surgery, I sometimes wonder about the destructive “progress” of the Western diet, corporations, the alienation of modern life, etc.
In fact, I’ve felt, for most of my life, like I am some sort of simple, hunter-gatherer who has been thrust into a modern world in which I have little skill to cope. Our genetics say this is true. To quote Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, “I guess I just wasn’t made for these times.”
