Oh wow! Now we know why she hated potato chips so much. It was not so much the potato chips, but the fact she knew they would make her obess and she could not resist them. Nice detail
Yes, from the look of things, I’m not sure Kyri wouldn’t be trading her current tragedy for another one. Playing ‘Lois’ to Jon’s ‘Peter’ and Cole’s combined ‘Meg’ and ‘Chris’ doesn’t exactly sound like a trade-up.
Good point. Also don’t forget Kyri saw a vision of this world when she first encountered Simon at the Eternity Spire. Because of the circumstances she felt she was being possessed by a demon. 🙂
ok…i see two earths…a chunk of rock in between…a window that sees a different reality…2 realities? more? are we dealing with a halflife like resonance cascade here?
No wonder Cole was so traumatized by the window… just look at her pigging out on chips! That’s just … scary beyond words.
OTOH, I was laughing like mad when I saw this page, ‘cos I was half-expecting something like this (based on what Simon said way back when about Jon being a CFO or something to that effect).
I’m reading this through again after quite a while and I have to say, I really prefer the goth punk Cole to the simply obese Cole. The previous version really didn’t fit with her character IMHO an makes the lines about her being a bit of an outcast (which I don’t think were changed) make a lot more sense.
Also, one other thought, this time around I caught the bit of foreshadowing way at the beginning at the party just before the banestone when Cole remarks that you’d have to be crazy to wear the dress she wears when she is crazy. nice touch.
That’s debatable…
Potato chips! NOOOOO!!!
Ooooh. Nice catch.

Its kind of hard to disagree with her there!

Most likely Kyri’s dislike of this sight comes from her carefree animal education. However we see here why potato chips are so nightmarish to Cole…

Thankfully I saw this in the morning. If I saw it at night, I’d have nightmares!!
You’d think with Jon being the CFO of Goldman Sachs that he’d get Cole either a gym membership/personal trainer or lots of plastic sugery…

Investment Banker, I believe it was. 🙂
In which case, I partly agree with Kyri’s evaluation of the situation. 😛
Oh my. I’m glad I’ve not yet had breakfast, or else I might have been tempted to lose it.
I wasn’t expecting Kyri to think that this world was a good one, but I wasn’t expecting that level of shock.
Well played, sir.
Hell, or real life?
Is there a difference?
Can be one, can be none. And in the latter’s case, hell can be good as much as real life can be bad.
But you have a point, i think that’s a phylosophy lesson hidden within that panel and within the whole background story of this universe. 🙂
I kinda expected this in Chapter one, It also explains why they all dress in “Modern” fashion instead of the local wear.

Cool. Glad you’re enjoying things the second time around and thanks for the vote of confidence on “Punk Cole.” I’m glad I changed it.
