The Banestone is purple and the Dragonstone is red.
Although looking back at previous pages, I had Jon’s eyes colored red while he was under the influence of the Banestone, however whenever he used the Banestone the energy was purple. In retrospect, his eyes should have been purple too. I originally thought of colors for each character (red being Jon) but I’ve abandoned that and figured each stone should have a color.
I’d been wondering what happened to the rest of Colindra’s overstones when John relieved her of the Banestone. Looks like he only took that one.
I would worry for the soldiers surrounding her, but in the absence of the Banestone, I do not believe that she would deliberately try to harm them. There’s going to be a nasty collection of bruises all around, but as long Cole gets to the air quickly they should be okay.
And I’m quite curious to see if her dragon form looks different now that the Banestone is gone.
Ah, thank you. We only saw Jon take the Banestone, but since he’s rocking the Quickstone, he can move faster than the eye can blink, so he could have taken more.
And the rules governing the dragon form have been left unstated beyond: it varies from person to person. Beyond that, there’s room for speculation. I’m inclined to think that there would be some relation to personality and mental state, but it wouldn’t substantially change the form.
They’re all looking skywards with some alarm, I wonder if they’ve noticed Gog, Bolo and Herrik plummeting towards them.
Maybe now Cole isn’t under the Banestone’s influence she’s regained enough humanity to try and save them using Dragonstone… I can’t wait to find out 🙂
I’ve been a lurker here for a long time but figured I’d say “Hi” as things are coming to a head. It’s going to be interesting to see what Jon and Simon are concocting. I can’t help but think that the others aren’t going to like it that much 🙂
That color… Looks like Banestone magic, not dragonstone magic. Was Jon’s bargain about letting Cole retain a fragment of Banestone magic ?

Mea Culpa for the confusion. 🙂

Good observations, Nemoricus. 🙂 Interesting idea about Cole changing her dragon form now that she’s not under the Banestone’s influence.

Good point and we shall see. Thanks for stoppin’ by. 🙂
