Wow. That was an unexpectedly non-happy ending. And unexpected heroism from Gog (unless you remmeber he fought in the 2nd battle of the eternity spire).
People are dying. Main characters. Which means the story will probably end soon. Given that we’ve just seen the origin of it all, I suspect things will soon be set right.
Still, as long as their survival is not confirmed, it feels like a big price to pay to get the Endstone. And looks like that’s exactly the kind of sorrow Kyri is expressing right now.
They’re falling! Oh no! Nothing can save them now! (There. That ought to save them. ^.~ After all, it’s not like there’s a powerful Stoner down below who could miraculously interrupt their fall and save the day.)
I’m wondering what’s going on with the arch. The crumbling looks like old concrete, rebar and everything, but the arch is actually a stainless steel structure. Of course, it might have been transformed by the same process that transformed the rest of reality and no longer be steel.
How long does stainless steel stay stainless? 5000 years is a long time.
Jonathan B – Your “Pile of Frogs” scenario could very well come true. 😉 lol.
Darth Killer – It is a big price and we shall see how this plays out.
Blake – Good catch and thanks for stoppin’ by. 🙂
Lunaroki – Interesting point. We shall see. . .
Brad – What’s going on with the Gateway Arch is that the author (me) did not do his research completely. 🙁 I hope it doesn’t take you too far out of the story. 🙂
I hate to say it, but if those three do die, it can be laid at Pablo’s door. If he had either taken Cole out or not gone after her at all (and thus not baited his trap with Gog and Bolo), Kyri could’ve found them somewhere other than atop the arch with a horde of frogs raining down. His neither-nor showing has brought them to this pass.
He’d have done better to have given Jon the Lightstone and gone back to mope in his crypt.
Of course, Pablo could come back and save these three; I assume he could teleport them as easily as himself. But I ain’t holdin’ my breath.
Interesting. I never saw it that way but you are absolutely right. 🙂 And I guess you could also say this whole thing is Pablo’s fault in that he originally failed to keep the Banestone from Drakyl the Dragonstone, setting in motion Jon’s theft of the Endstone, the murder of Kyri’s tribe, Colindra’s birth, etc. etc.
But then again, our lives are filled with things we failed to do and these events lead to a whole other series of events. “What could have been”… there’s a story in that somewhere. 🙂
True. Although there’re so many ‘what ifs’ between Drakyl’s getting the stone and Cole’s having it that it’s a little harder to fault Pablo for everything that happened between that event and the current one.
Of course, this could just be me trying to guilt you into having Pablo save the falling trio and make some amends. 🙂
So… are they falling to their death?
We can only dream. (Kidding~)

Christopher, Gog also helped Kyri and daughter when John attacked them before the battle at eternity spire. He’s been brave all the way thru.
Yeah, that wasn’t expected but we’ll see what happens next.

Edian and Allen – we shall see if dreams really do come true. 😉
Christopher and HF – Exactly right about Gog. He might not be that smart, but he has a kind, gentle soul – except when he’s fighting with Bolo.
Gabe – Things are going to change dramatically very soon, so stay tuned.
Way to go Gog! Very good accuracy, too.
Possibility for survival theory #1: if the baby’s back up, he could perhaps catch them.
Theory #2: There has to be quite the huge pile of frog people beneath the arch at this point. Maybe they’re squishy enough to cushion the fall.
Still, as long as their survival is not confirmed, it feels like a big price to pay to get the Endstone. And looks like that’s exactly the kind of sorrow Kyri is expressing right now.
And its not even the endstone! That’s a harder hitting tragedy to me

nevermind, checked myself, he picked it back up
