Howdy folks. Welcome to issue 8.
Instead of half-page posts twice a week, I’ve decided to post a full page on Mondays only from here on out. I thought the half-page format made the story move a little slow. What do you think?
And color is coming soon….
Amazing idea! I feel that there is going to be really interesting action. But when there wasn’t interesting story? Just think about it, issue 8… Many time has passed till the begining of the show and how far it went. When I started reading I had hope it will be gripping and now I feel it’s even more that that, what means I’m not disappointed.
It’s good to have a news from you 🙂
As always thanks for stopping by MatDoz. It’s good to know that long time readers are still enjoying the comic. 🙂
Primrose showing her true colors is disturbing. Her father was kind and protective to his peaple, humans and animals alike.
In Primorse’s prior apearances as an adult we’ve seen her frustrated/angry but that could have been because of Cole’s raid and baduction.
Then we noticed she established games and activities disregarding animal life, but then again because of Kyri’s affair with her father and because of Cole herself she could have grown up as uncaring about animal life as most human are.
But now, we’ve shown bloody arenas involving human gladiators, if i’m not mistaken. That’s a completly different stpe, Primrose reveals to us she’s actually completly ruthless, in total contrast to both her father and her younger brother. And that new dimension could make her a major vilain in the future, once Cole looses the spotlight. Something personnally i’d never figure out before this panel.
Great insight to the story as always, DK. 🙂 Yes Primrose is being cast as a future villain. Hopefully I’ll be able to tell that tale in the future. 🙂
*Glomps to Anthony around his knees* Never leave us again!
Or less imitation fangirl.. Post with what makes you happy. You could post a ten pages a day and we’d still beg for more. 🙂
We shall always be here, edge of our seats, squeeing in delight. 🙂
Thanks. You keep me going Shadowydreamer. 🙂
Love it on B&W
I’m glad you like it Renato. 🙂 I’d love to color but it takes too much of my time. I’ve been having trouble hiring a colorist and I’m not sure if I want to spend the money either. So I think it’s going to be black and white from here on out.
If I get more Endstone in less time, I prefer it this way 😉
I rather liked the half-page format; it fit well on the fairly miniscule screen of the netbook I typically use to read webcomics. But I have long since mastered the scroll wheel on the mouse, so do what you need to – I’ll cope.
😉
Thanks, TekServer. 🙂 I agree that the half-page format works best with the website design. The thing about full pages is I try to make the last panel a “page-turner” — meaning hopefully the reader wants to “turn the page” to see what happens next. This is lost with the half-page format unfortunately so I hope the story reads better in full-page postings. 🙂
Love the story, love the site!
Now that nobody’ll kill me for saying this:
I just wanted to put this out there: back in the day of gladiators, the thumbs up or down was actually in reference to the sheathing of one’s sword. Therefore when Primrose put her thumb down, in reality during the time of gladiators, the sword would have been sheathed. I know this is a fantasy world and it could be said to not reflect history, but either way I just wanted to put that info out there.
Keep up with the comic!
Interesting bit of trivia. 🙂 Thanks for reading and stopping by. 🙂
Wow… Primrose has gone rather brutal, hasn’t she?
Fun fact: in ancient Rome, the thumbs-down signal actually meant to let the gladiator live. The idea was that the thumb represented a dagger — down meant to stick the dagger back into the sheath, up meant to thrust upwards.
Meaning Hollywood is responsible for changing history here ? That would not be the first time…
Thanks for the hint, anyway. 😉
Ah, but as the world of Endstone seems to be somewhat based on Modern America, it should be wrong. I think..
Since the trivia has been put out there already, I’ll just add that the thumbs down has since been adopted as the ‘negative’ since allowing the gladiator to live was not always what the crowd wanted to see. Still, the message was received!
Glad to see Primrose making an appearance. I was curious about she and her brother and what was happening in the realm of St. Louis now that daddy’s gone.
Truely, in the days before TV, humans were a violent and barbaric bunch. Of course, we still are, but we now have the technology to satisfy our urges to watch people be killed/injured/humilated/all of the previus in various orders – in a safe way.
