I didn’t mean to mislead you folks, but time has resumed. It happened in the second panel of the previous page where Simon rocks the red Angelstone and flies to the Spire. Also the clock disappears and the sky becomes colored in that panel as well.
I try to show and not tell, meaning I try to avoid dialogue and narration that explains what is happening. I think I might need it in the second panel. Lesson learned for me.
I’m not sure what you mean by block. The Banestone supplies an energy shield but Pablo’s laser can cut through it.
And as far as using other stones, it’s very rare a stoner can use two stones at the same time. Passive stones like the gravestone yes, but active stones can only be rocked one at a time. I know there might be instances of two stones being rocked in earlier issues (Cole as a dragon shooting a banestone blast for example), but I’ve kinda’ laid down the rules since then (and please excuse the slippery rules – it’s admittedly difficult creating an entire original fantasy world all by your lonesome 😉 )
From what we’ve seen, it’s perfectly possible to rock multiple active stone, however it does require either complete mastery of stonecraft or hudge raw talent to do so.
The Montaine family has produced many stonecraft geniouses it seems, considering Pablo’s unique advance lightstone techniques, Jon’s ability to combine multiple stonecraft powers into new ones (remember the fire shield) and Cole’s hudge raw talent for a beginner.
As for the block, i guess you’re refering to the Endstone, not the Banestone. Well, Simon has isolated it from him, in his pocket, so no help from that stone.
Now for the mirror, let’s see if Simon will manage to use it properly against Pablo.
Yes. 🙂 It’s true that the Montaine’s have been shown to be especially talented when it comes to rocking the over-stones. Even Kyri has admitted that Jon is more powerful than she is. So far, Jon is the only one who’s shown the ability to use two over-stones simultaneously. So far . . .
What’s thrown me off is the purple coloration all over the Eternity Spire. Is it supposed to look like that all the time? I don’t recall seeing it like that on any previous appearance. I assumed it looked like that because time was still stopped.
Actually, aside from a brief glimpse in Issue 7 (several years ago), this issue is the first time that the Spire (post apocalypse) has appeared in color.
At the time, I didn’t put much thought into the Spire’s design in Issue 7. Looking at it now, I thought it looked uninteresting so I decided to give it an eerie purple color like the Banestone. Hopefully it’s not too jarring.
My thoughts exactly at first. But rethinking about it, it is most likely that the flow of time itself has little meaning withing the control room, being so close to the console. Which would also mean Simon cannot stop time now that he’s so close to the console and has to rely on the Banestone’s other abilities. Or his helmet.
Most likely that’s what Jon was counting on when setting up the trap for Simon : why else leave Pablo, who can bypass the Banestone invulnerability, in a defensive position so close to the console ?
Oh no! At first I was fearing for Pablo Montaine, he is my favorite character, and then I went to VOTE for TOP WEB COMICS and saw the preview and now I’m sad…
Wait wait wait… what? I thought time was frozen!
So we await an explanation. Given the person who’s moving is an animated skeleton and a rocker, I can think of two or three off hand.
There’s a stone that freezes time, so surely there must be a deus ex machina stone that makes you immune to other stones’ effects.
Signs point to: “Time not actually frozen, just going about lightspeed.” So that would explain why the rocker of the LIGHTstone can keep up with him.

So the banestones does block all other stones, inlcuding the ones of the wielder themself?
I think the only time someone combined the banestone with any other it was Jon when using Bane+Speed stone.

Which, you will now notice, is a “no spoilers” image. Was it really that much of a spoiler, or just enough out of context to seem that way?
End of Line
THAT’S MORE LIKE IT! 😀 Good stuff, great page! 😀
Nice shot, Pablo…
Be careful Pablo, he’s currently holding the hard counter to lasers.
… now, if that’s a through and through, and that laser also zaps the console… What happened the last time that machine went on the fritz, again? 😀
I love the colors going on here. The florescent is so illuminating!
