I can’t remember if this was addressed earlier or not, but why is the crazy bitch in charge. Her brother looks a bit older than her, tends to be a lot more rational, and isn’t it usually the male heir who inherits a nobility title
These are great questions, kyriss12. No, it hasn’t been brought up yet exactly why Primrose is in charge. At 21 years, she is older than Ben, who is only 18 years old (with Colindra in the middle at age 19).
Lord Quandel (Prim and Ben’s father) was very progressive, having given animals freedom in his land, banned the slaughter of animals for food, banned gladiator matches, and actually fallen in love with an animal (Kyri). Apparently this progressive attitude was also extended to women and this is probably why Primrose is next in line to the throne.
There is no doubt that some of the populace is angry at Lord Quandel’s progressive stances. Primrose senses this and that is probably why she reinstated gladiator matches and the markets for animal meat.
Primrose believes in family, tradition, and above all else loyalty. She wants to secure a future for her line on the throne of the city. Her faults? She is callous, prone to anger, and irrational at times. . . maybe border-line sociopathic.
I would compile a subset of the Evil Overlord List, except that I’m pretty sure I already did thatβ¦ hold on, lemme find it.
Nope, that was for GATES, back in the comments of 10.23. Well, I’ll have one compiled for Primrose by the time the next half-page goes up, mark my words.
I also see that nobody got my reference to the sun rising in a few hours back in 10.33. Also, looking back even the last 30 pages indicates to me that it’s time to reread the archives againβ¦ well, at least I have something to look forward to during spring break!
Having a point of view so diametrically opposite to her father and predecessor is not surprising either : while she may have known for a while about those not too happy about her father’s progressist views she would hardly have stepped back from them if it were not for her father’s tragic demise.
Same has happenned in real life dinasties. Take the last Tzar for instance : Alexander II was very progressist to the point he became known as the liberator, yet he eventually was assassinated because of it. Both his son (soon to be Alexander III) and grandson (future Nicholas II) were devastated by the news, and became extreme conservatists because of it. Just like Primrose lecturing Ben about their father and “where [his views] got him into”.
And yeah, it pays off of to stumble upon a good TV schedule from time to time, i would not now about Alexander II’s demise and its influence on future tzars otherwise… π
That’s interesting info on the Tzars and their reactionary policies, Darth Killer. I actually have a master’s degree in History so I’m really interested in those things, obviously, even though grad school seems to destroy any love you may have for a particular subject. LOL.
Her father’s not dead yet. Surely she’s just regent? Even if her brother was heir, and under-age, she could serve as his regent in a lot of kingdoms where she could not inherit, either in preference to him or at all.
That’s a good idea about Primrose being a regent, Mary. π But also, Endstone is not really a medieval society since it takes place in a future, post-apocalyptic world. Some of our modern mores might still be in practice.
Wow. Finally! Thank you, Ben, for FINALLY standing up for the RIGHT side. Took you LONG ENOUGH… (Punching a lady is probably crossing the line for him :P)
Indeed. That’s not in a bad way though : we (at least I) don’t want that because she’s annoying or anything like that, we only want that because of her actions and decisions as a more and more evil character. I don’t know the others, but i love bad guys specially when they make me want to kick them just because of how evil they are. π
Wow, he grew a pair, now he just needs them a bit bigger and punch his sister next
This.
Ben would never hit a lady. π

Because the plot demands it!
LOL. Yes I suppose that is true. π

Cool. I look forward to seeing your list, darthnsupreme. π

Still, the psychological damage is already done and permanent.

thanks for the clarification on her age. for some reason i thought she looked a lot younger. might be the round face and pixie cut hair.
Wow. Finally! Thank you, Ben, for FINALLY standing up for the RIGHT side. Took you LONG ENOUGH… (Punching a lady is probably crossing the line for him :P)
Also, have I mentioned how much I love Ben’s ‘dominant gorilla’ expression in panel 1? Lol
Glad you like the expression. π I had to model that one in the mirror to get it right.
That’s dedication! I take my (imaginary) hat off to you, sir!
Still waiting for the day she’ll get punched in the face with enough force to make her fly. :p
Aren’t we all? XD

Wow. That’s insightful. Probably true for me as well, but I could never put it in such a great way. I could try, but nope… Oh well.
