Everytime I try to load this page I get redirected to some bullshit “medical” scam page (with a picture of taylor swift?). I’m using chrome. I also only got here by hitting escape/stop.
Weird. You are the second person to let me know about a redirect. It’s never happened to me and I’m on a mac and I’ve tested the site on Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. It could be something on your end, or WordPress has some sort of virus? I’m not too savy with html or web server stuff.
Anyone else?
EDIT: downloaded and ran an anti-malware plug-in for WordPress. It found nothing. Strange.
In past on other webcomic I think a bad advertisement was cause a while back… I am not expert either. In other words, some hacker pays to advertise here and finds a weakness in the advertising system to put in malicious code. After a while the advertising company probably catches on and bans the guy and perhaps upgrades their security. so it can be random because luck of draw on what banner ad you get.
I got an anti-malware program and as of now, no problems anymore. But these ads only happened rarely. If it’s totally gone, I think so but I’m not sure. But it found a few malicious programs on my computer.
The fact that only a select few people suffer from this is proof the problem does NOT come from the site itself. Which means adding an anti-malware plugin on Worldpress will do nothing since WordPress is not attacked.
Still, it does behave like a redirect script executing itself from the page. Proof of this is the fact you can abort the redirect (that’s what happens when you press escape) just like you would abort loading any new page.
One possibility, like david said, could be malvertising : one of the ads, which are not controlled by Tony as dev nor webmaster, contains ill-intended code which, in this case, causes the unwanted redirect.
Second possibility is a more local problem : a malware on your computer. Please note that i said malware, not virus. Since there are legit ways to alter a web page’s code, like using Greasemonkey scripts, you could say a malware could do that too. That’s how some browser hijacking work. In any case, you’ll have to scan your computer for any unwanted software in memory. Your security suite softwares should have something to do that, and even if it turns out to be a cold trail it will still be a could idea. 😉
Finally, i’d advise to clear completly history and cache of your browser, this way you’ll force it to redownload fresh pages and thus redownload new ads, that could exclude the culprit one if any
As it was explained by Simon, Kyri, Cole, and Vandric are the result of evolution on a post-apocalyptic world, not stone magic. Animal people evolved to compensate for the extinction of regular livestock, which was caused by the original spire explosion. It was a natural process which progressed for generations.
I take the blame if it’s not entirely clear — but the “twist” of the Endstone story is that the “modern” world is fake and the “fantasy” world is real.
I realize this story is taking way too long to unfold so I can understand the confusion. Lesson learned this time. The next story will be simpler. 🙂
The issue isn’t in the twist, but rather in the delivery. It was delivered in a villain monologue, during what could only be described as an intermission scene, with little to no foreshadowing prior, or influence after. It felt like a footnote.
A big twist needs more of a set-up, and should completely change the story from that point. It should also motivate the reader to go back to page one, and read the whole thing again with this new information in mind.
I’m expecting more from the foreshadowing about Kyri being chosen as a scientist, though. That could have more influence on the finale.
Although this does bring up an interesting point. Although Vandric was created via Stonecraft, it is well established that any and all such power was merely in the creation – he was thereafter his own independent entity. Until now, the Toadmen were believed to be much the same – normal toads altered through Stonecraft into mutant creatures. Apparently they had a casting time of “Permanent” rather than Vandric’s “Instantaneous.” 😀
(Basically, despite being independent entities, the Toadmen must have still been in some way dependent upon the Toadstone’s energy, in some way too subtle or otherwise passive for the Endstone to affect.)
That being said, remembering that “Iron Dragon” a few pages back… Wizards! before another mini-debate breaks out. As a DM who constantly exploits the rules in their evil favor, I can confirm that this does indeed make quite a bit of sense (especially given how little is actually known about the Overstones).
You will get answers to your questions very shortly. Hopefully they are satisfactory.
As for the world rules: I try to be consistent, but there’s always going to be discrepancies in any work of fiction, it’s just a matter of how much the audience is willing to forgive. For example I love Walking Dead, but the whole thing breaks down if you examine it too closely. For example, the science behind the zombies doesn’t make sense, and half the time the heroes just need to use a car and it’s horn to herd zombies away from the group. Stuff like that. But I don’t mind because I’m more interested in the characters. It’s a tight rope to walk as a creator.
If they were, they would have awaken this instant.
No, their stones being parts of the machine, they became useless the moment the machine shut down. However, no idea what the reboot will bring…
Wait a second! WAIT A SECOND. If Simon’s soldiers are gone, does this mean the fancy strength and invincibility he had are gone too? He’s just like a normal mortal? Strike NOW WHILE HE’S WEAK GUYS!
I am Gandalf the White!
End of Line
My guess? Things are about to get bizarre… …. er… bizarrer … that’s a word now.
I love how Bennet is automatically taking off his tunic for Cole to put on. So cute! 🙂
BOOBS!!!!! 😀

Alrighty, apparently 2 is an insufficient sample size. It did happen twice in a row though.

Thanks for the info, David. 🙂

Thanks, DK. That helps. 🙂
I think it’s the third ad on the left column, as my Net Nanny App is currently blocking that one.

That makes sense. Thanks. 🙂 Inkoutbreak was recently handed off to a new owner and the site is now semi-defunct.
Ad taken down.
… if the reboot forces all reality-altering effects to be suspended, why is Vandric still a grey hulk? Or Cole and Kyri deerish for that matter?
Also… applying update 1 of 3179… please don’t turn the spire off? 😉

If it turns out they were in the Matrix all along I’m going to be upset

Hahahaha, so it *did* boot up in Safe Mode. 😀
(That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! :-P)
