Hi, Tony. If I had been your editor, I would have asked you to wrap up this scene now. It’s been going on for quite some time now (weeks in fact), and I think it could do with a wee bit tightening. Nice art, though.

This is the problem with posting one page a week of a dramatic, long-form comic. Events that might flow well with one reading of a completed comic tend to drag on when formatted as a webcomic with one page a week to read. I don’t have an easy answer to this problem. This is why gag comics seem to do much better on the web, IMHO.
It’s also why I tend to swing by once a month. That way i can read 3-4 pages at a time, even though it’s a longer span between reads it tends to flow just a little better.
When in previous panel she dropped the Rainstone and rushed into melee, i knew it was a stupid idea of hers. It’s a proof her determined stare is currently a fake. All she has is sorrowness that prevents her from thinking properly.
If she was a better strategist, she would have attached to her the Endstone in a way that she could stop rocking it, to keep both stones all the fight and combine zoned thunder with skillfull martial arts. That would have been enough to make a stand long enough for both Kyri and Jon to fall flat, ending the fight with a draw…

Darth Killer – You bring up some good points. 🙂 However, I think Kyri can’t fight hundreds of Toad-men in close quarters while concentrating on rocking the Rainstone. She needs time and free hands to call lightning.
So her strategy was to take out as many toads as she could from a distance. When they got close, it was hand-to-hand combat. She knew the odds were against her but it was the only thing she could do.
She could have use the Rainstone to build a damaging defensive lighning field, you know ? By not rushing things, you can turn the odds to your advantage. I’m sure she could have obtained a draw instead of loosing on this one.
Not i’m just “angry” at Kyri herself. It’s part of the timeline that Jon must get his hands on the Endstone after all. 🙂
The Rain Stone probably can’t do much with lightning that nature can’t. No solid grids.
I think Tony has it right here, the lightning couldn’t stop the toads getting close, at which point she was better off with the endstone, otherwise Jon might have gotten personal with the Banestone.
Actually Jon must have used a lot of power calling a toad army, otherwise he’d have frozen time as soon as she stopped rocking the endstone and just picked it up.
Actually, the toad army was still there after Jon put the two stones together in Issue 1. 🙂 Also, the Endstone could dispel the energy involved in making the Toadmen, but it can’t dispel them once they’re made. If that makes sense.
The Rainstone basically just makes rain. Calling lightning and using it for offense is probably something no other deer in Kyri’s tribe has ever conceived of doing.
But then again it’s all open to interpretation. I’m perfectly fine if you think she should be called Kyri Dunderhead. ;P

I think this comic is great. However, I do feel that there are to many flashbacks. It sometimes gets confusing.
Well, I for one really like the unusual panel configuration; it really conveys the sense of her being overwhelmed.

Or it required focus to maintain the toads. I remember the toad army vanishing once Jon focused on the Endstone, merging it with the Banestone.
As for Lightning, if you use it as a zoned attack repeatedly, you can decimate an entire army and possibly its summoner along with it.
Tony had it right to make the story loop possible (i already agreed with that), but I still believe Kyri Thunderhead had it all wrong :p
