“seemingly innocent” – i.e. Cole knows she’s guilty? Most villains believe themselves heroes; this phrase seems to indicate more self-awareness than we’ve seen of her so far.
Well, she’s not a naive fawn — she’s a stoner, usually well-able to take care of herself. And she’s seen and done things, no doubt, that make her… cynical, to oppose innocence. (Instead of necessarily it being guilt vs. innocence.)
She’s also right: they’re vile, and deserve whatever she’s gonna do to them. Go, go, dragon-girl!
Gabriel:Well she IS being forced to do the bidding of an evil overlord from an another dimenson against her will. I wouldn’t call that innocent, and I guess she wouldn’t either.
Also, this page is so full of WIN. I mean show me an another comic where somebody is faced with a dragon with his pants down. Alas I feel sorry for the guy. He could even turn around and bend over because either way he is screwed!
As for the choice of the word “innocent” – I was going to post my own reasons for choosing that word, but really, the only thing that matters is how you, the readers, interpret it. So I guess everyone is correct.
And SCAScot – Cole is supposedly drawing juice from those two thugs holding her hands. Sorry that wasn’t clear.
They are holding her hands? I thought they were holding… something… else. And that the flashes of light were there to hide said parts and indicate she was casting. Because it’s a family comic.
Yes, I can totally see how you would interpret those light flashes as family censors!
But honestly, and I think I can speak for most artists, drawing hands is really difficult. And to let you in on a little trade secret, I was trying to draw the thugs and Cole’s hands and I couldn’t quite get it right, so I just made the flashes really bright to save time and avoid drawing the hands. I guess it worked out in ways I didn’t anticipate.
You’re correct in that I’ve only shown Cole draining a “suckee” (LOL – I love it) twice and both times it was from the head. But really all a stoner needs is free hands, a good grip, and a little concentration. The head is probably easiest to drain power from (and admittedly the most dramatic to draw). And once the process is started it’s difficult if not impossible for the suckee to break the grip.

I’d have expected “seemingly helpless” instead.

I thought she was out of juice…
Dude’s lookin’ like a fool wit’ his pants on the ground.
Thanks for stoppin’ by folks.

And thanks again for the feedback, everyone.
Ah, I see it now. Usually, I pick up the subtle things, but this went right past me.

But it’s all how the readers interpret it.
Till now I thought that this life-sucking business only works when shes holding the head of the (does this word exist? if not, it does now) suckee.
Now bow before me, since I have just created another word: censorbeams

She’s gonna suck them dry, but not in the way they want.
